Our Samidori is an A-Grade, single-cultivar matcha, shade-grown and first harvest, made for a gentle, expressive cup.
From Wazuka in Kyoto, the region south of the city that defined the ceremonial standard, the leaves are shaded for 20 days before the first flush of spring, the season's youngest and sweetest. Shading is what deepens the colour and builds the umami, and Wazuka's long tradition of careful cultivation is what lets one cultivar speak so clearly.
On its own, Samidori shows a subtle sweetness up front, soft notes of banana and rosemary, and a faint avocado aroma behind. Forest-green in the cup, creamy in texture, with a long and rounded finish.
