Our Okumidori is an A-Grade, single-cultivar matcha, shade-grown and first harvest, made for a rich and savoury cup.
From Wazuka in Kyoto, the region south of the city that set the standard for matcha, the leaves are shaded for 20 days before the first flush of spring, the season's youngest and sweetest. Shading is what deepens the colour and builds the umami, and Wazuka's long tradition of careful cultivation is what lets one cultivar speak so clearly.
On its own, Okumidori pours jade-green and unfolds in layers, green pea, ripe mango and a faint coconut note, carried by a long, umami-driven finish.
