Was erhöht GLP-1 mehr: Matcha oder grüner Tee?

Which Boosts GLP-1 More: Matcha or Green Tea?

Both matcha and green tea come from the same plant and contain similar active compounds. The key difference is concentration — and that difference matters when evaluating any potential metabolic effects, including influence on GLP-1.

What they have in common

Both contain EGCG, L-theanine, caffeine, and various catechins. Both have been associated in research with modest metabolic benefits and potential effects on blood sugar regulation.

Why matcha has higher concentrations

When you drink brewed green tea, you extract a fraction of compounds from the leaves and discard them. When you drink matcha, you consume the entire ground leaf — getting everything it contains. The EGCG content in matcha is typically three to ten times higher than in an equivalent cup of brewed green tea.

What this means for GLP-1

The research on EGCG and GLP-1 is preliminary. To the extent EGCG influences GLP-1 secretion or stability, matcha would be expected to produce a greater effect than brewed green tea simply by providing more EGCG per serving. There are no direct comparison trials in humans yet — this remains theoretical.

The practical answer

If you are interested in the potential metabolic benefits of tea polyphenols, matcha is the more concentrated source. It provides more EGCG and higher L-theanine per cup than brewed green tea. For general health, both are good choices — matcha simply offers more of the relevant compounds per serving.
